Near Lexington, Nebraska -- American Kestrel (Sparrow Hawk)
After eating a catapillar, this female American Kestrel fanned out her tail feathers and one wing, stood one leg, and then appeared to stretch. This photo received 2nd place in the "open" category of WildBird Magazine's Annual Photo Contest, 2003.
