Hawk Ridge, Duluth, Minnesota -- Broad-Winged Hawk
This is one of my favorite places. With large numbers of raptors and friendly locals, Duluth is hard to top. Hawk Ridge official hawk counter, Frank Nicolette, has given me pointers on how to identify different species. During their peak fall migration, 10,000 or more Broad-Winged Hawks may pass over Hawk Ridge in a single day.
