Rowe Sanctuary, near Gibbon, Nebraska -- Sandhill Cranes
I had heard of cranes sitting and lying down in water to cool down, but had never seen it myself until this hot spring day. It seemed comical at times. This photo received 2nd place in the "humor" category of WildBird Magazine's Annual Photo Contest, 2003.
