I drove from Elm Creek to the Gothenburg and around western Dawson county to try to photograph lighning. After driving about 150 miles on $3.00 a gallon gas I ended up back at home without one single lightning picture. About a half hour after I got home, the storm passed over my house and I got a couple photos while standing in my back yard.
